Bow Hunting (Jason)

Temperature:  46 degrees at 1:30 / 33 degrees at 7:00 pm
Wind:  N/NW slight

A recent cold snap had me excited for what yesterday afternoon's hunt would bring.  I head out fairly early thinking the deer might be on the move due to the cooler temperatures.  Also, I wanted to sit in "The Finger" stand that Uncle Bill put some tree steps in.  Not being the most agile or in shape person in the world, I had difficulty getting up onto the platform of the stand.  It seemed like my right foot kept looking for an additional step that just wasn't there.  I decided after my second failed attempt, to change my position and sit in the Sandbox Stand.  I got settled in at ~2:30 after my change of plans still having high expectations.  The sun was shining and the wind was blowing, but not too hard.  It really was a nice afternoon, however I never saw a deer.  The temperature dropped quickly as the sun went down.  Again, I heard ducks on the pond and even had a small flock of woodies fly over head.  A few squirrels and even an opossum kept me company.

Total deer sightings: 2
Total hunting hours: 29.5
